Trying to do something Fresh...

With the launch of our fresh new church at Eatons Hill, we want to make a splash. How about a citrus theme to pick up on the idea of freshness? We've grabbed the www.freshchurch.net web domain name, and we're ready for business. Here's our (tentative) opening move... maybe we'll follow up with postcards, and handing out fresh oranges at the local shopping complex?

I'm still not 100% sold on the concept. Although I can see it has some appeel(sic).

The problem with labelling something "Fresh" is that it immediately dates. How do you maintain the freshness - do you have to keep changing format or will you have some revolutionary new method of conducting church that will stay fresh forever. Will you add mould to the logo each year as the church starts to get older? It's like calling something "Brand New" it becomes old pretty quickly. On the other hand I can see what you're going for...

Keep in mind that "Freshchurch" is our launch campaign. It's not meant to be long term. And it's not our permanent web address. We've invested a total of $US8.95 in the concept with www.godaddy.com for a domain name.

Ahh. I thought it was your branding concept - like the previously successful "latechurch"

I'm glad this is the launch name, not the official name.

Even though the "fresh church" might be really appealing for outsiders (non-Christians and those who've drifted out of Church) I would be hesitant to go to a Church called freshchurch - unless I knew more about it. However once I knew more about it (like I do know) the name and logo (which looks great) actually does the job of making the Church plant sound exciting and appealing.
