Let's get it clear right from the start. Beauty really is only skin deep. But that doesn't mean we should go out of our way to make church publications look intentionally ugly or amateurish. The cool thing is, when you do it yourself, a delicious design costs no more than a design disaster. It's all about attention to detail; a statement that what you're doing and saying is worth doing and saying well.

Thanks for pointing out this site. I especially enjoyed reading: (1) When Church Signs Suck (couldn't agree with the writer more!); and (2) The Science Behind Your Church's Facility (thinking about how we can understand the design of places like department stores, supermarkets etc when organising the layout of churches - e.g. where to place promotional material, how to set out flooring etc).
Agreed. It's amazing how little we tend to think about stuff - and then act as if it's somehow more spiritual to be unreflective.
