MPC is launching a new church plant on the edge of Kelvin Grove Urban Village. We're calling it "The Village Church" and aiming for students and young urban professionals. We threw around a few ideas for logos, and settled on the second, grungy version. I still kinda like option 1 though...

They're both great, and exciting to hear of the church plant.
How did you go about deciding between the two designs? Was it to do with what you understand the culture of the KG Urban Village is, or the culture of the plant team, or something else?
Thanks Daniel. It was really all about our understanding of the Urban village culture and the sort of people we were looking to attract... which is kind of different to the core group we are launching with, which made it complex. Option 1 was, I think, aimed more at a subtle, coffee sipping young professional set. Option 2 is obviously more street-wise. Our launch team had a fair bit of debate about this! Maybe the reality is it will attract young professionals who would like to be streetwise.
They both are so different it is hard to say. As a young professional I lean towards that first one - I think that it will last longer then the second. I would say that the second is a bit younger in its target - more high school uni focused.
On the first one I like the idea but think that the font for Village could change. More so the V then the other letters.
Just a few thoughts
I think I like the first one. I think it will 'last longer' (as Chris pointed out). It's simple, easy to read and 'breezy'.
